Hey guys,
Another ETC has come and went. Everyone will have had the time to relax by now so I wanted to take the opportunity to run the restrictions for next year by you. Already discussed amongst the rulescouncil and several amongst you at the ETC, so this will probably not be very new to you …
Last year we saw a lot of votes and revotes so I would like to put a system in place this year that should not see any revotes happening. We all know GW is probably going yo keep up its heavy release schedule so lets be a step ahead this time, and choose for some restrictions that will steer us away from a strict ETC style of play but to a team selection system that sees us playing a more -truer- 40K that wont collide with how the game is played locally.
Basically we propose the following
– Any army can have an illimited number of detachments or a pre-defined number from any faction (3, 4, you name it) as long as there are no special rules dissalowing those factions to be taken together. The restriction here is that once a faction is taken in a certain army, it is no longer available for the team as a whole. We now have ample choice of codexes and supplements to choose from, so it would stop every team to bring two eldar, two necrons or two daemon armies. It will increase variety and it will make the pairing process a lot more interesting in my opinion.
– We can stick to an each formation or special or unique detachment only once or we can choose to open it up completely and limit it to one within an army to stop Warhost and Decurion type detachments from being completely over the top.
– No limit on the amount of LOW in an army as with the above restrictions they would be limited to one army anyways. You would only see one type of knight build, would only see wraithknights in one army, etc etc etc. Alternatively if this is still felt as too strong, We can limit LOW to one of each type which would limit wraithknights and obelisks to one for example.
For example one could take a Tau faction CAD with an allied Tau Farsight supplement detachment and a firecadresupport formation in one army. This uses up the tau faction slot for the team.
Alternatively one could use the nemesis Strike Force Detachment with a Culexus Assassin as an Officio Assasinorum Detachment and a Space Wolf CAD. This would use up the Assassins, Grey Knights and Space Wolf factions for the team.
